Why do I need it
This firmware update resolves the issue where Encarta 2000 will han
at installation. This patch should only be used on systems where
Encarta needs to install from an LG CD-RW model 8083B, with firmware
revision 1.08. To check the version of firmware do the following
1. Click Start / Settings / Control Panel, then select System and mov
to the Device Manager Tab
2. In Device Manager, Double Click the CD ROM Devices. There will the
appear a selection for LG CD-RW Model 8083B. Double click this device
3. Select the Settings Tab. In the top Right Corner there will be a
listing for the Firmware version. It should read 1.08

Download lg109.exe from this pag
What do I do with it
1. Create a bootable floppy disk by double clicking on My Computer
2. Locate the 3 1/2 inch floppy drive
3. Using the "Right" mouse button, click once
4. Select Format in the pull down list that appears from the previous step
5. Select the "Copy System Files Only" and Press Start
Once the floppy is created do the following
1. Go to the location on your hard drive where you downloaded the patch
2. Double click the lg109.exe file
3. The WinZip Self-Extractor dialog box appears and states. These files
need to be expanded to a BOOTABLE FLOPPY. To install this update, boo
from the floppy and follow the prompts. "Click on OK
4. Put the Bootable floppy in the A: drive and click on Unzip
5. This creates the installation disk for the Update. To install th
update simply Shut Down and Restart your system with the floppy yo
just created in drive A:. The files will install automatically upo
system start up. Please note any messages and follow all instruction
on screen as the update continues.
