1. "4">After you download the file
   double-click the SP1RcvryFix.exe file to begin extracting the H
   patch files. A message appears: "This update resolves th
   incompatibility between Windows XP Service Pack 1 and your PC'
   Standard recovery" (sometimes referred to as non-destructiv
   recovery).
2. "4">Click OK. The WinZip Self-Extracto
   window opens.
3. "4">Click Unzip to unzip th
   files.
4. "4">When a message appears that the H
   patch files were unzipped successfully, click OK to start the SP
   patch installation.
5. "4">When a message appears that the H
   patch was installed successfully, clic

floppy disk, and access to another PC with an Interne
connection.

"4">WARNING: If you
system does not start, you may be required to do a Standar
recovery, if the patch is not successful. This may cause som
personal data, and software to be removed. If possible, back up an
personal data you have before running a recovery. Software that ha
been added to the system will have to be re-installed. A Ful
system recovery (sometimes referred to as destructive recovery
will erase all data and the system will be returned to its origina
state, at time of purchase.

patch:

1. "4">After you download the file

   disk into the floppy disk drive on the computer on which you ar
   working.
6. "4">Click Unzip to unzip the files ont
   the floppy disk.
7. "4">When a message appears that the H
   patch files were unzipped successfully, clic
   OK.
8. "4">Click Close to close the WinZi
   Self-Extractor window
9. "4">Confirm that the patch wa
   successfully created. Double click the "My Computer" icon. The
   double click the floppy drive (A) to show its contents. Ther
   should be at least four files, one of which will be name
   fpatch.bat. If the contents are different or empty, repeat th
   above "Extracting the patch" instruction
   carefully.
10. "4">Remove the Floppy disk fro
    drive.

"4">Installing th
patch:

1. "4">Restart the computer, and the
   press the F10 key on the keyboard before the blue HP logo scree
   appears. This opens the HP computer System Recovery utility. (I
   you press F10 after the logo screen appears, the System Recover
   utility won't open. If necessary, repeat the procedure until th
   System Recovery utility starts.)
2. "4">In the System Recovery utility
   click the Advanced Options button.
3. "4">Press ALT+D on the keyboard to ope
   a command prompt window.
4. "4">Insert the patch disk into th
   floppy disk drive on the PC needin
   repair.
5. "4">Type A: and then press the Ente
   key.
6. "4">Type fpatch.bat and then press th
   Enter key. A message should appear stating that the patch wa
   successfully installed.
7. "4">Type Exit and press the Ente
   key.
8. "4">Remove the floppy disk from th
   floppy disk drive.
9. "4">Click Back to return to the mai
   screen of the System Recovery utility.
10. "4">Click Quit, and the system shoul
    start up normally.

3. "4">Click Yes to confirm that you wan
   to perform a system recovery.
